Partner Navasana

Partner Boat PoseTwo people sit facing each other individual knees bent and together. Reach arms toward your partner and hold hands, your knees will be on the inside of your legs. Bring the balls and toes of your feet to press against those of your partner. Lift one foot at a time up (by pressing hard against your partners foot) until you are in a balance boat arms and legs extended. Arch your back. Lift your chest. Open your heart. Smile at your partner!
For more fun separate your legs and bring the arms in between your legs (maintain your grasp of your partners hands and the pressure against your partners feet at all times) into a balanced wide angle and then go back to boat. You can do this a couple of times.

Physical benefits:
Navasana is a powerful pose that strengthens the core, lengthens your hamstrings, works your quadriceps and hip flexors and extends the spine. When done with a partner the pose becomes more dynamic thus heightening the benefits of the pose.

Spiritual benefits:
Navasana alone is a powerful pose that brings one into an understanding of balance in new ways, that is not on the feet or the hands. We connect to greater awareness of our bodies in space. When practiced with a partner the exploration takes on greater dimension as joint exploration, negotiation, and communication are required. With partner we experience connection within ourselves and with another.
