Wellness Chiropractic with Dr. Robyn Croutch

Your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and nerves, controls and coordinates every single function in your body and brain. In fact, there are over 200,000 nerve impulses per second, that travel from your brain, down your spinal cord, through the nerves, to and from every cell of your body. Without your thinking about it at all, your hair grows, your heart beats, you digest your food, you breathe through your lungs, you experience all your emotions, and even think your thoughts, while your central nervous system controls and coordinates all these functions. You literally live your life through your nervous system. Every function in your body and all of your senses are completely dependant on your nervous system.

When your nerve energy flows abundantly, without obstruction, your body and brain are 100% self-communicating, self-healing and self-regulating.
When your body experiences any type of nerve interference or damage (subluxation), this interrupts normal nerve flow, similar to static on your cell phone, and you are no longer functioning at 100%. As a result, your health and vitality are compromised and your body is no longer 100% self-healing, or self-regulating.
Subluxations are caused by your body’s inability to handle three major types of stress – physical, mental-emotional and chemical.Left uncorrected, subluxations have devastating effects upon your health and well-being, leading to breakdown, malfunction and dis-ease.
Our goal is to locate subluxations and remove them and their causes, allowing your body to heal itself on every level. Only chiropractors can determine if you have subluxations.
Let’s look further at how stress causes subluxations. When you have more stress than your body can handle, you can no longer adapt to the environment, causing nerve interference in your body (subluxation), which can cause all kinds of health problems. You may experience Physical Stress, for example, when you lift heavy things, are involved in a motor vehicle accident, step off a curb the wrong way, sit at your computer for too long, don’t exercise enough or exercise improperly or are involved in sports activities. Chemical Stress comes from the foods you eat, the water you drink and the air you breathe, which are full of chemicals, pollutants, toxins, preservatives, sugar, caffeine and too much salt and fat. And let’s not forget to mention the alcohol you drink and the prescription and non-prescription drugs you may take. Finally, there’s Mental-Emotional Stress, which includes the gradual build up of pressure and anxiety from childhood, school, work, relationships and deadlines, to name a few.
It’s important to know, that you may have subluxations, and not even know that you have them. A common misunderstanding is that you are healthy when you have no symptoms. But, have you ever known someone who felt fine, and then suddenly, they had a heart attack or discovered they had diabetes or even cancer? The truth is, that person was sick for a long time before they had any symptoms, and in some cases, the first symptom was death.
At Back To Life Chiropractic we are dedicated to helping families and individuals manage and release stress!

Reiki

The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words: Rei, universal spirit, and ki, life force energy.
Thus, the word Reiki means “universal life force energy.”

In Complementary Therapy, Reiki belongs to a domain called Energy Medicine. In this domain, therapies are based on the belief that disturbances in energy cause illness. Energy medicine practitioners seek to improve the flow and balance of energy in a beneficial way.

A Description of Reiki

Reiki is a therapy that the practitioner delivers through the hands, with intent to raise the amount of ki in and around the client, heal pathways for ki, and reduce negative energies. Reiki can be practiced in several ways: on its own, along with other integrative therapies, as well as alongside conventional medical treatments. When a practitioner performs Reiki, usually the client sits or lies comfortably, fully clothed. The practitioner places her hands on or slightly above the client’s body, using 12 to 15 different hand positions, with the intent to transmit ki. Practitioners perform Reiki most often in offices, hospitals, clinics, and private homes. The practitioner and client determine the number of sessions together. Typically, the practitioner delivers at least four sessions of 30 to 90 minutes each. Once attuned to the energy by a Reiki Master, people can perform Reiki on themselves as well as on people who are either close by or even at a long distance. In the latter case, Reiki is a type of “distant healing.”

People have sought Reiki treatment for a wide variety of health-related purposes. Some examples include:

•    Effects of stress.

•    Chronic pain.
•    Recovery from surgery and anesthesia.
•    Side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy for cancer.
•    Lowering heart rate.
•    Improving immunity.
•    Mental clarity.
•    Sense of well-being and/or spirituality.
•    Enhancing the sense of peace in people who are dying.

Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine with Monica Roslow, MS, L.Ac.

“It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than what sort of disease a person has.” -Hippocrates-

Chinese medicine, as with most holistic practices, appreciates that illnesses may be identical, but the people suffering from them are individuals.

What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body.  This process stimulates movement of energy within the body, allowing natural healing to take place.  It helps to prevent illness by improving overall functioning of the body’s immune and organ systems, and is helpful for:
•    Treating existing illnesses and injuries (acute and chronic)
•    Preventing both recurrence of illnesses and new illness
•    Improving overall health

Monica has been involved in the health and healing fields for over 15 years.  She holds a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, a BS in Health Sciences, national board certification in Chinese herbology.   She is fully licensed and insured.  Over time Monica has learned and developed techniques and protocols that meld acupuncture and Chinese medicine with other traditional holistic practices.  A favorite is a series of acupuncture chakra balancing treatments.  Other special protocols include acupuncture facial rejuvenation and smoking cessation treatments.
