Samantha
Samantha Gerson began her yoga practice 12 years ago at a neighborhood gym, and can still recall how alive her entire body felt after her first Downward Dog. For the next few years Sam travelled around Manhattan practicing at all the big studios and studying many different styles of yoga. The more knowledge she gained, the more her love of yoga blossomed. She decided it was time to deepen her spiritual practice. In 2002 she followed two of her most influential teachers, Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi, to Laughing Lotus where she completed her first 200 – hour teacher training. It wasn’ t until she moved to Port Washington that her life and her yoga really changed. When Samantha walked through the doors of Om Sweet Om she knew she had found a home. She instantly fell in love with Gail Grossman and Lisa Bondy, and in 2008 she graduated from their 200- hour teacher training. Through their unwavering support and loving kindness they have instilled in her the courage to share her passion and her Down Dogs. She believes that as we open the body and create space, we mindfully let go and release what we no longer need. Only then can we expand into the true bliss that connects us to the divine in ourselves and in each other. Taking the seat of yoga teacher fills Samantha with overwhelming gratitude each day.
Samantha seeks to infuse her classes with a sense of adventure and humor. Acting as a guide, she encourages her students, both big and small, to explore their own truths by quieting the mind and using the breath as a tool to go deeper.
