Erin

Erin McCandless has been practicing yoga for more than ten years. Her first experience with yoga was at her local gym in Omaha, Nebraska. Like many people who begin their practice at a gym, she soon felt drawn to the more spiritual aspects of yoga and expanded her practice to yoga studios. Even then, Erin found that she longed for more. There were not many opportunities to attend workshops or teacher trainings in her hometown, so Erin ventured away from home to find what her heart needed. She attended many workshops and yoga conferences around the country to study with well-known teachers such as Bryan Kest, Baron Baptiste, Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee and Sri Pattabhi Jois. In 2001, Erin took her practice to the Sivananda ashram in Paradise Island, Bahamas where she completed a transformative week of yoga and meditation. When she returned from the ashram, she was presented with her first opportunity to teach yoga. She fell in love with sharing the power and beauty of a yoga practice with others and she continued to teach until mid-2006 when she moved to Port Washington. After a nearly two-year hiatus from teaching, Erin completed Om Sweet Om’s teacher training program and has found her way back “home” to teaching yoga. She is thrilled to be honoring the truth within her once again and sharing her experience and her love of yoga with the Port Washington community.
