Elena Box

Elena began her yoga journey with Om Sweet Om at the age of 19. At the time she was studying for a BFA in Acting at SUNY Fredonia. Her studies included movement and voice training from the Linklater technique as well as commedia del’arte and stage combat.
After graduation in 2011, she took her yoga teacher training at Om Sweet Om and began teaching there after. Om has truly been her “home” for quite a while now!
Following the terminal brain cancer diagnosis of her father in 2012, she travelled to the amazon to study Peruvian shamanism with the Shipibo tribe. It was this knowledge that helped ground her during the challenging times of coping with grief and loss.
When her father passed in 2016 her yogic path lead her to Australia and Bali to study indigenous wisdom and ancient Balinese healing with Agus Sihman. She practiced yoga passionately at Radiantly Alive in Ubud, while getting trained in Reiki with Devi Ma of Divine Light Healing.
Most recently she studied Kundalini yoga extensively in Los Angeles at Rama Institute with Guru Jagat.
In 2017 Elena felt pulled to round out these profound teachings and became a certified death doula with Olivia Bareham of Sacred Crossings.
Now she proudly calls herself: casual lady shaman, yoga teacher, and conscious comedienne.
Above all, she is happy to be here in service to our great community.
As a yoga teacher, Elena draws from many lineages and practices from all over the globe. To her, yoga is all a play of breath, and a vehicle for expanded awareness and freedom of expression through form. A divinely playful meditation in motion.
When coming to her classes, you can expect to feel held in a ceremonial-like sacred space. She encourages the releasing of breath through voice, and the flowing of your poses in a way that feels best for you. Releasing all expectations of what a yoga pose ‘should be’ and providing a space for you to explore how the poses feel in your body.
Her Open level classes are Vinyasa flow, while incorporating gentle stretching and intuitive movement. Playlists vary from tribal beats, to gentle contemporary, inspiring cinematic –like soundtracks, or even West African music. A feast for the ears is in store for you!
In Restorative she offers her style of hands on shamanic energy healing while you melt into the easeof your relaxing practice. Touch is always offered as an option, not a requirement to receive. Boundaries are key.
Candle light yoga on Friday nights is like a luscious romantic date with yourself. Flickering firelight, sensuous and playful flow, rounded out with a few restorative poses.

  • Open
  • This class is appropriate for all levels of yoga students who have some experience with yoga. The instructor will offer modifications for newer students as well as more challenging poses for advanced students. (not recommended for pure beginners)
     
    This class is for experienced beginners who wish to take their practice to the next level. Vinyasa Flow level one classes include the basics of a flow class, which is a dynamic practice that focuses on combining movement with breath control - an energizing and invigorating yogic experience.
     
     

  • Reiki Restorative
  • For Students of all Levels. A soothing series of rejuvenating poses using props to aid in relaxation with an option to receive hands on healing touch by a certified reiki master.

  • Candlelight Yoga
  • Enjoy this candlelit class at the end of your week. Slow flow.Open level.

  • Flow and Restore
  • An hour and fifteen minute class devoted to Asana flow and restorative yoga.

  • SLOyoga
  • This beginner class will address all the important aspects of a yoga class. We will focus on the basic postures in a class, the breathing and the foundations of yoga all at a slow pace. No previous experience required.A slow-paced practice, with great attention to detail and use of props. Perfect for seniors or those dealing with injury who need a well-rounded, healing practice.

  • Quick Fix
  • This class is for experienced beginners who wish to take their practice to the next level. Vinyasa Flow level one classes include the basics of a flow class, which is a dynamic practice that focuses on combining movement with breath control - an energizing and invigorating yogic experience.

    This class is appropriate for all levels of yoga students who have some experience with yoga. The instructor will offer modifications for newer students as well as more challenging poses for advanced students. (not recommended for pure beginners)
