Roopali Gupta

Roopali (ERYT-200, RCYT, YACEP, Licensed Yoga for the Special Child® Practitioner) Co-Owner of Om Sweet Om Yoga, began her journey practicing and studying yoga at the tender age of 7 as part of a Sunday Vishwa Hindu Parishad Bal Vihar program for youth in Southern California. She continued her yoga path at UC Berkeley, taking many courses in South Asian philosophy and literature while earning her B.A in Economics in 1999. While visiting India, during the winter before her graduation, she had the opportunity to visit many temples and Ashrams of Southern India including Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry and the Vedic Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati further deepening her philosophic and spiritual understanding of the Vedic roots of yoga.
In 2000 she moved to New York to pursue a career in Finance at a top tier Investment Bank. She found herself on a path away from her Vedic roots. After nearly a decade of enduring the long hours, stresses and excesses of Wall Street she retired to be a stay-at-home mom. During that period of rest she found her way back to her practice and study of yoga. She found her second home at Om Sweet Om Yoga. In 2014 Roopali trained to be a yoga teacher at Om Sweet Om earning her RYT- 200 certification. As a mother of 2 young boys she wanted to bring yoga to them and their peer group. In January 2015 she completed YogaKids Foundations training with Gail Grossman at Om Sweet Om as well. In the spring of 2015 she was certified in Restorative yoga also under the expert tutelage of Gail Grossman. She was drawn to work with developmentally challenged and special needs students. She trained with master teacher Sonia Sumar (founder and director of Yoga for the Special Child®) to enable her to bring yoga therapy to those with special needs (ADD, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, developmentally delayed, Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy) and physically challenged children and adults.
Her classes range from peaceful and relaxing (restorative) to energetic, sweat-inducing vinyasa flows, and educational playful kids yoga and therapeutic Special Needs Yoga.
She infuses her passion for yoga asana as well as philosophy in every class and each posture. Her gentle and encouraging cues with particular emphasis on the breath, and playfulness make each pose truly enjoyable.
